Integrated Health Clinic

Less Pain, Better Movement, and a Care Team That Has Your Back

We offer registered massage therapy in Victoria BC through a team of CMTBC-registered therapists who combine clinical assessment with hands-on treatment to address the conditions that matter most to our patients. Located at 888 Short Street in Victoria, we bring massage therapy into a fully integrated health environment alongside physiotherapy, kinesiology, chiropractic, and pelvic health, so when your recovery requires more than one discipline, everything is available under one roof. Every RMT on our team begins with a thorough health history and clinical assessment before any hands-on treatment starts. This is not a relaxation spa model. It is a healthcare-first approach built around durable results, and it is why patients across Greater Victoria trust us with their recovery, injury management, and ongoing health.

Our Credentials and Clinical Standards

CPTBC-Registered Physiotherapists

Every massage therapist on our team holds active registration with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), the regulatory body that sets the highest training standards for RMTs in Canada. Registration with CMTBC means your therapist has completed an accredited massage therapy program and is accountable to provincial standards of practice and a code of ethics.

5-Star Google Rating from 250+ Victoria Patients

Our clinic has earned a 5-star rating across more than 250 Google reviews from patients across Greater Victoria. We do not ask for reviews during treatment. They reflect the outcomes our patients experience and the care they receive from our full clinical team.

Integrated Care Model

Our RMTs work alongside physiotherapists, kinesiologists, and chiropractors in the same clinic. If your presenting condition warrants a collaborative approach, your RMT can communicate directly with the rest of your care team. This matters most for complex conditions, post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, and chronic pain cases that benefit from a multi-disciplinary view.

Massage Therapy Services in Victoria BC

Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)

Our RMTs are trained to assess and treat soft tissues, joints, connective tissue, and the musculoskeletal system using a range of clinically appropriate techniques. Treatment goals include pain relief, improved range of motion, injury recovery, stress management, and performance support for athletes and active patients.

Techniques our RMTs use include:

  • Deep tissue massage for chronic muscle tension and injury recovery
  • Myofascial release to address fascial restrictions contributing to pain and limited movement
  • Trigger point release for localized muscle knots and referred pain patterns
  • Sports massage for pre-event preparation, post-event recovery, and injury prevention
  • Active and passive stretching integrated into treatment sessions
  • Relaxation massage for stress reduction and general well-being
  • Exercise prescription, including take-home stretching and strengthening to support treatment between sessions

Our RMT sessions begin with a clinical health history and assessment, not a form you fill out in the waiting room. Your therapist will identify the structures most involved in your presenting condition and build a treatment plan that reflects your specific goals.

Active Release Technique (ART)

Active Release Technique is a patented soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Overuse injuries, repetitive strain, and scar tissue buildup are conditions where ART has strong clinical application. ART combines precise manual tension with specific patient movements to restore normal tissue texture and function, reduce adhesions, and eliminate pain that has not responded to conventional massage alone.

We offer ART as a targeted component of your massage therapy treatment. It is particularly effective for conditions including:

  • Shoulder impingement and rotator cuff issues
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • IT band syndrome
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Neck stiffness and headaches from soft tissue involvement
  • Sciatica with a soft tissue component

For patients who have seen partial results from physiotherapy or general massage, adding ART to your treatment plan often fills the gap. Your RMT will assess whether ART is appropriate for your condition and explain exactly what to expect before proceeding.

Conditions Our RMTs Treat

Our registered massage therapists are trained to assess and treat a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain
  • Neck and back pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprain and strain injuries
  • Overuse and repetitive strain injuries
  • Stress and stress-related conditions
  • Conditions involving soft tissues, joints, and connective tissue

If you are unsure whether massage therapy is appropriate for your condition, give us a call at (778) 433-4900 and a member of our team will help you find the right starting point.

what to expect

Your First Massage Therapy Appointment

Health History and Assessment

Your RMT will take a thorough health history before any treatment begins. This covers your current condition, injury or pain history, relevant medical history, medications, and your goals for massage therapy. This step is not a formality. The information gathered here determines which techniques are appropriate and which areas to prioritize.

Clinical Assessment

Your therapist will assess range of motion, posture, muscle tone, and the specific soft tissue structures involved in your condition. For ART appointments, your therapist will identify the specific adhesions and restricted tissue contributing to your symptoms.

Hands-On Treatment

Treatment is personalized to your assessment findings and goals. Your RMT will communicate throughout the session, checking pressure tolerance and adjusting technique based on your response. Sessions run 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on the appointment booked.

Take-Home Guidance

Where appropriate, your RMT will prescribe at-home exercises, stretches, or self-care strategies to support the work done in clinic. This progressive approach, combining passive treatment with active self-management, is central to achieving durable results rather than temporary relief.

Ongoing Treatment Plan

Following your initial assessment, your RMT will recommend a treatment frequency that fits your condition and recovery goals. Some patients benefit from weekly sessions during an acute phase, while others maintain progress with monthly appointments. Your therapist will adjust the plan as your condition evolves.

FAQs: Registered Massage Therapy in Victoria BC

A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in BC is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) and has completed an accredited massage therapy program meeting provincial standards. This designation is what qualifies a massage therapist to bill extended health benefits and work within a clinical healthcare setting. Not all massage practitioners hold this credential. Every massage therapist on our team holds active CMTBC registration.

Clinical evidence supports massage therapy as an effective intervention for certain chronic pain conditions, including lower back pain, neck pain, and headaches. The most durable outcomes come from combining massage therapy with an active rehabilitation component, which is why our RMTs prescribe at-home exercises alongside in-clinic treatment. For complex or persistent pain, our integrated model means your RMT can collaborate directly with a physiotherapist or kinesiologist to build a broader care plan.

ART is a soft tissue system that uses a combination of manual tension and active patient movement to treat adhesions, scar tissue, and overuse injuries in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Unlike general therapeutic massage, which primarily addresses muscle tone and circulation, ART targets specific structural restrictions that impair movement and cause pain. It is particularly effective for repetitive strain injuries, athletic overuse conditions, and cases where standard massage has produced partial but incomplete results. We integrate ART into RMT sessions for patients where the clinical assessment supports it.

This depends entirely on your condition, how long it has been present, and your treatment goals. Acute soft tissue injuries often show meaningful improvement within 4 to 6 sessions. Chronic conditions or complex presentations typically require a longer course of treatment with periodic reassessment. At your initial appointment, your RMT will give you a realistic picture of what to expect and a recommended treatment frequency. We do not recommend indefinite treatment without clear clinical progress.

Most extended health benefit plans in BC include annual coverage for registered massage therapy. Coverage amounts vary between plans and employers. Because our RMTs hold active CMTBC registration, their services are eligible for reimbursement under virtually all plans that include RMT benefits. If your plan allows direct billing, your out-of-pocket cost may be zero at the time of treatment. Contact us to confirm direct billing availability for your insurer.
