Chris Vilayphonh

Physical Therapist

Hi, my name is Chris! I’m proud to be part of the team here at South Island Physiotherapy practicing as a Physical Therapist.

My journey began with my own sports related injury while studying Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, which then inspired me to pursue and earn my Masters of Physical Therapy. Throughout my career, I have helped numerous individuals with their injuries, ranging from general population clients to former Olympians. My approach is all about empowering patients to overcome obstacles and achieve their rehabilitation goals one step at a time. This includes the use of hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, shockwave, and of course exercises in the clinic and at home.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is connecting with patients on a personal level. I make it a priority to listen attentively to their concerns, understanding that each person’s journey to recovery is deeply personal. By working collaboratively with my patients to create tailored treatment plans, I have witnessed incredible transformations. It’s extremely rewarding to see patients regain their mobility, overcome challenges, and achieve goals they didn’t even think were possible. These moments remind me of why I chose this profession – to make a positive impact on people’s lives and help give them their best quality of life!

Beyond the clinic, you’ll find me playing volleyball, hiking, camping, kayaking/paddle boarding, and simply taking photos of our beautiful west coast. These activities along with my previous martial arts background allow me to deepen my understanding of movement, recovery, as well as keep me humble when I inevitably stumble upon my own injuries.

I look forward to getting your rehab journey started and seeing you in the clinic!
